Life
Gibbs lies in grave I2 of the Prescott Post lot. His stone names his unit as 3rd U.S. Colored Infantry. No date of death has been read from it. [1]
The survey recorded the unit as the 3rd U.S. Colored Infantry. The PV001 list has a Franklin A. Gibbs, 3rd U.S.C.T., Company A, not found in the index; the only Gibbs the index shows in the 3rd U.S. Colored Infantry is a Warren Gibbs, Company G. Unresolved. [2]
His service record, any pension file, and his life before and after the war have not yet been researched. This page will grow as the records are read.
