Life

Lonzo H. Knight lies in grave E1 of the Prescott Post lot. His stone names his unit as Company D of the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers, and gives his death as the 24th of a month in 1909 (the month is under earth; April or August). [1]

The National Park Service's index of Civil War soldiers lists Knight, Alonzo H., 2nd Rhode Island Infantry, Company D, private in and out, microfilm M555 roll 4. [2] The survey sheet read the given name as Lonzo; the index and the PV001 list have Alonzo.

A 2022 list of Civil War veterans buried at North Burial Ground gives his death as 1909. [3]

His service record, any pension file, and his life before and after the war have not yet been researched. This page will grow as the records are read.
