Life

James K. Weston lies in grave A3 of the Prescott Post lot. His stone names his unit as Company B of the 2nd California Cavalry, and gives his death as January 2, 1926. [1]

The National Park Service's index of Civil War soldiers lists Weston, James (no middle initial), 2nd California Cavalry, Company B, private in and out, microfilm M533 roll 7. [2] The index gives no middle initial; the sheet records James K. A California cavalryman buried in Providence is worth explaining.

His service record, any pension file, and his life before and after the war have not yet been researched. This page will grow as the records are read.
